The Butter Milk Ranch

Any decent girls trip has a few mornings filled with fun, bubbly drinks and enough carbs for a month’s worth of gym runs. On my sister Aubrey and I’s recent excursion to Nashville, TN, we found a breakfast spot which accomplished this perfectly. The Butter Milk Ranch is located in the trendy cute neighborhood 12South and not to be outdone by all the instagramable murals nearby, the interior of the BMR is fresh & welcoming, full of green plants, polished wood and delectable looking pastries.

Anyone who has ever met me knows that bread and pastries are my nemesis; a pile of chocolate bars could sit in front of me for days, but oh man, the smell of toast can send me over the edge. So walking into the Butter Milk Ranch was a lesson in self control to be sure, as there are literally piles of the biggest, most golden looking croissants everywhere. Before we could dive headfirst into that deliciousness however, drinks had to be ordered, after all, this was a girls trip and we were brunching it up. After acquiring our mimosas, Hibiscus for Aubrey, Pineapple Jalapeño for me, it was on to the main goal, carb loading!

I had the ricotta egg scramble, which tasted like a delicious fluffy cloud and the best part was that it came with a giant almond croissant which was as decadent as it looked. I had to stop myself from buying another one honestly but I suppose even carb gluttony should have a stopping point after all.

Aubrey opted for avocado toast which looked more like a green mountain of heathy goodness, two entire avocados smothered in arugula, apples and pumpkin butter. It sounds like an undiscerning flavor party but actually it worked beautifully and more than once I tried to switch our plates when she wasn’t looking.

Once we were officially satiated, it was time to venture out into the sunshine and leave the Butter Milk Ranch behind. I had high hopes of coming back to order that avocado toast for myself but alas that was not to be. We flew out the next day and as we circled over the gray skies of Nashville on our way westward towards home, I dreamed of that almond croissant and made a vow to myself to return sooner than later. After all, who says that you only get one sister trip a year? Not me; I’m already looking at airfare.
